Legacy Past Presidents Award

Please join us as a Society Member of the OOPA Legacy Past Presidents Award, created to honor and inspire future optometric leaders in the state of Oregon.

With the passing of Dr. Candy Hamel, respected former OOPA President, the OOPA established this award to carry forward her legacy as well as the legacies of all past and future presidents. This initiative reflects our ongoing mission to promote, protect, and advance the practice of optometry by cultivating the next generation of leaders. Our members and past presidents have long demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the profession; now we have the opportunity to support those who will continue that tradition of service.

A $3,000 award is presented annually to either:

A 3rd or 4th year Pacific University College of Optometry (PUCO) student committed to practicing in Oregon after graduation, or
An OOPA member who has been in practice in Oregon for up to five years.

Visionary Society - $500
Legacy Society - $50-$499

The Oregon Foundation for Vision Awareness (OFVA), supported administratively by OOPA, serves as the fiscal agent for the scholarship award. OFVA’s EIN is 81-0624290.
